So I did a little searching online to price the components… and found that the price seems 'fair' for what we would be getting. The Hard drives are a good fraction of the price and there are cheaper equivalents that are categorized as Desktop Drives instead of Enterprise Drives and are not recommended for RAID settings… We could look into tape storage, cloud storage, or 2TB/4TB external USB drives for 212 and use them like backup DVD's of various projects… This is all a stop gap as we will inevitably need to keep our data on the same clusters where we run the simulations … and any data products we need will have to be generated there…

Hard drives 8 450 3600
Monitors 2 150 300
Raid controller 1 500 500
Battery Backup 164 1 164
Everything else 1680
