Odd, higher res BE movie

Here are movies of a higher resolution BE run:

http://www.pas.rochester.edu/~erica/noboundBE.gif — no bound on color bar

  • 863 root grid +3 levels
  • RefineVariableFactor set to 0 to trigger refinement based on Jeans length
  • Ambient medium density = density at outer edge of sphere, entire domain is isothermal
  • boundary conditions = all velocities into and out of grid are stepped on
  • Poisson BC's = multipole

I killed the run after the diamond shape happened. We have seen this before and contributed it to the pressure waves running off corners of box. However, the disconcerting asymmetry at the last frame is new..

I am going to move the edges of box further away from the sphere and change the boundary conditions to periodic to mimic the sphere sitting in a homogenous, 'infinite' medium. .

863 base grid + 5 levels, periodic BC's on box:

Erica, can you adjust the density scale to not be maxed out at 1? Most of the material is at densities of 100 by the end and it is very difficult to see what is going on. I would suggest either allowing the max and min to adjust or setting the max to be the maximum value for all of the frames shown.

Okay, thanks, will post soon.

I am getting a seg fault on 16 processors on BH running this in the debug queue, and wonder if this is a simul set up that I should try to move over to more processors?

That is, the larger run is getting seg faulted. . .

I would do 163 + 5 or 323 + 4

In the 303 box or the 43 box?
