Cracking
"Cracking" is a drastic change in variable values along the boundary between two AMR grids (usually of differing refinement levels). This is most commonly seen in Schlieren images, where it can be dealt with by averaging the values around a cell. In normal variables such as rho, it can be the sign of much more serious AMR problems.
