Frame
In BearCLAW terms, the Frame is the number of the current iteration of the AMR / BEARStep algorithm. Each NodeInfo structure has a frame number indicating its node's current round of AMR refinement.
When dealing with Chombo HDF files, a frame can also be thought of as a snapshot of the simulation at a particular time. The frame number is used when naming Chombo files; ChomboVis and VisIt use this number to determine a file's place in the output file sequence when rendering the files into an animation.
