I followed Kris's suggestion and checked out rev. 166 of the AstroBEAR code and ran it on the sample data files downloaded from SVN archives. It no longer seems to have the bad CFL problem from before, but it still quits at the 22nd frame even if the dtv parameter is reduced to 1E-2 from its original value 1E-4. I replaced the .data files with the ones from contrib/astro/template, however, and they worked fine at both dtv values. It might just be the sample project that has this problem.
