+JC - Another option is to increase the transition radius for the magnetic field from r_p/2 to closer to r_p.  This will take a little calculus to make sure it is done correctly... see https://astrobear.pas.rochester.edu/trac/blog/johannjc06302015 for the equations currently implemented in the problem module.  In terms of increasing the resolution - you may be able to just add additional levels of AMR - would need to see plots of the mesh (sliced through the midplane) with density overlayed to see how it is currently refined.
